In a candy factory, nutty chocolate bars contain 22.0% by mass pecans. If 5 kg of pecans were used for candy last Tuesday, how many pounds of nutty chocolate bars were made?

22% by mass pecans of a nutty chocolate bar.

This means that if a nutty chocolate bar is 100 kg, then it is made up of 22 kg of pecans.

(100 kg chocolate bar/22 kg pecan) * 5 kg pecan * 2.2 pound/1 kg = 50 pounds of nutty chocolate bar.

50 pounds of nutty chocolate bars were made last Tuesday.

Let's say that the total amount, in pounds, of nutty chocolate bars is "x"

So, if 5 kg is 22%, then 5/x = 0.22
So, all we have to do now is rearrange the equation to get x = 5/0.22 = 22.73 kg
1 kg is approximately 2.2 pounds, so we multiply 22.73 by 2.2 to get an answer of 50 lbs

Hope I helped!! xx
