Driving out 216 miles at 48 mph = 4.5 hours
Return trip = 216 miles at 54 mph = 4 hours
Total time = 8.5 hours

The answer is 8.5. 216 divided by 48 is 4.5, 216 divided by 54 is 4, and the sum of 4.5 and 4 is 8.5. Hope this helps, and Good Luck, fellow K12 student. :D
