Answer: 16 chickens, 6 Pigs

Explanation:

Given

Toal heads=22

Total feet=56

Suppose there are x chickens and y pigs

each animal possess a single head

\therefore\ x+y=22\quad \ldots(i)

Chicken has 2 legs and pig has 4 legs

So,
2x+4y=56\quad \ldots(ii)

Solving (i) and (ii) we get

x=16 and y=6

So, farmer has 16 chickens and 6 pigs
