He was a Syrian monk and priest. He was also polymath ( a person whose expertise spans many subjects). He contributed to law, theology, philosophy, and music. He was born in 675 or 676 and died December 4th, 749.

John of Damascus was a Syrian monk and priest. He was a polymath in law, theology, philosophy, and music. He was one of the fathers of theĀ Eastern Orthodox Church.
