PLEASE HELP ME!

A climatologist wants to determine the thickness of a glacier with a surface area of about 2 km². He selected 10 locations at random on the glacier and then measured the thickness of the glacier, in meters, at each location. 41, 38, 36, 29, 34, 44, 46, 43, 35, 40 What is the estimated median thickness of the entire glacier?

Thicknesses at different point are: 41, 38, 36, 29, 34, 44, 46, 43, 35, 40

In increasing order: 29, 34, 35, 36, 38, 40, 41, 43, 44, 46

Median = (38+40)/2 = 39m

Median thickness is 39m

Answer:

Median=39m

Explanation:

It is given that the data set is in the form of the 10 locations on the glacier, so these are:

41, 38, 36, 29, 34, 44, 46, 43, 35, 40

In order to find the estimated median thickness of the entire glacier, we need to arrange the given data set in ascending order.Thus,

29, 34, 35, 36, 38, 40, 41, 43, 44, 46

Therefore, the median is:

M=(38+40)/(2)

M=(78)/(2)

M=39m

Thus, the estimated median thickness of the entire glacier is 39m.
