Combating human trafficking requires a comprehensive, multidisciplinary effort. Within government, this means the participation and coordination among agencies with a range of responsibilities that include criminal enforcement, labor enforcement, victim outreach and services, public awareness, education, trade policy, international development and programs, immigration, intelligence, and diplomacy. Coordinated efforts are essential to an integrated response to human trafficking that leverages resources and amplifies results. Although challenging to coordinate such a massive effort, it is a critical and worthwhile endeavor that can yield incredible success and progress. For this reason, the United States engages in robust interagency coordination and advocates that other foreign governments undertake interagency coordination efforts as well.
