Insulin helps maintain glucose levels in the blood. If blood glucose levels got very high, what would you expect to see happen to insulin levels? Insulin levels would decrease. Insulin levels would increase. Insulin levels would not change.

Insulin levels would increase. The fact that more insulin will be required to convert glucose to glycogen accounts for this.

The right answer is Insulin levels would increase.

Insulin is a polypeptide hormone involved in the glucose cycle.

Synthesized by β-cells of islets of Langerhans in the pancreas, insulin allows the absorption of glucose by muscle cells and adipocytes, and its conversion to glycogen or fatty acids. It is therefore a hypoglycemic hormone.

Its role is to maintain the constant concentration of blood glucose. When its secretion is insufficient, there is onset of diabetes, which is why diabetics receive regular injections of insulin.
