Answer:

Replace require with insist.

Step-by-step explanation:

A verb is said to be in the subjunctive mood when it illustrates a hypothetical situation or a situation that is doubtful and not based on factual information. It expresses a wish, demand, suggestion, request or proposal. Thus, the replacement of word require with insist would convert the verb into subjunctive mood as then it would exemplify a request, demand or suggestion in this case that would best complement the meaning and purpose of the statement which is to display a desire or condition of colleges that every potential student must complete an essay before being admitted.
