4 pints = 8 cups
5 cups = 5 cups
1/2 gallon = 8 cups
2 quarts = 8 cups
8 + 5 + 8 + 8 = 29 cups
No, Joann isn't right.

Answer:

Part A.

The recipe for punch uses 4 pints of orange juice, 5 cups of apple juice, 1/2 gallon of lemonade, and 2 quarts of pineapple juice.

1 pint makes 2 cups. So, 4 pints will make 8 cups.

1 gallon makes 16 cups. So. 0.5 gallons will make 8 cups.

1 quart makes 4 cups. So, 2 quarts will make 8 cups.

Now total cups are =
8+5+8+8=29

Joann says her recipe will make 30 cups of punch. She is incorrect. it will only make 29 cups.

Part B.

Joan decides to pour her punch into 1 quart containers. And she has 8 1-quart containers.

Now she has a total of 29 cups to store.

1 cup is equal to 0.25 quarts.

So, 29 cups will equal =
0.25*29=7.25 quarts.

So, yes she can store her punch in 8 1-quart containers.

7 containers will fill and 8th one will hold 0.25 quarts or 1 cup of punch.
