the sum of the internal angles of a quadrilateral is 360, therefore:


\begin{gathered} m\angle A+m\angle B+m\angle C+m\angle D=360 \\ \text{and} \\ m\angle A+m\angle C=180 \\ m\angle B+m\angle D=180 \end{gathered}

so


\begin{gathered} a+5+a-25=180 \\ 2a-20=180 \\ 2a-20+20=180+20 \\ 2a=200 \\ (2a)/(2)=(200)/(2) \\ a=100 \end{gathered}
