It is not made of starch. Iodine would turn dark purple in the presence of starch. As there was no reaction you can conclude that the carrot therefore, has no starch. Also, just a little annoyance for me here, to say that it is "made of starch" or "made of sugars" is incorrect, the foodstuff would have starch or sugars in them (if the tests show positive, anyway), but would not be made of the substance.
