no of events/no of possible

events=12
possible=12+6=18

12/18=2/3

therefore 2/3*2 (he is trying twice)
4/3

Answer: Probability that he has two brown socks on =
(1)/(153)

Explanation:

Since we have given that

Number of brown socks = 12

Number of blue socks = 6

Total number of socks = 18

According to question, in the dark Jason pulls out a sock and puts it on his right foot and then he pulls out another sock and put it on his left foot.

Probability of putting one brown sock on his right foot is given by

P=(2)/(18)

Probability of putting another brown sock on his left foot without replacement is given by

P=(1)/(17)\\\\\text{ because there are 17 socks left }

So, Probability that he has two brown socks on is given by

(2)/(18)* (1)/(17)\\\\=(2)/(306)\\\\=(1)/(153)

Hence, Probability that he has two brown socks on =
(1)/(153)
