Are the graphs of the lines in the pair parallel? Explain.

x  – 17
4x – 6y = –6

The lines are not parallel because when you solve the second equation it is y=2/3x+1. For 2 lines to be parallel, they have to have the same slope and a different y-intercept. In the first line, the slope is 1 and in the second, it is 2/3 so they are not parallel. Hope this helps!!
