Answer:

Water is able to absorb heat and retain this energy for a long period of time. Thus, living things warm up and cool off slowly due to this feature of all the water they contain. Water molecules are attracted to each other and are held together by hydrogen bonds. Due to the large number of these very weak bonds between individual water molecules, water has a great interconnectivity of individual molecules. When taken in large quantities, these bonds allow water to support the weight of a water spider as well as to flow as a cohesive unit or to bead up on a freshly waxed automobile hood. Water molecules are also attracted to other polar molecules. The attraction between different substances is called adhesion.
