Molar Masses:
MM of Na+
= 23 g / mol
MM of Cl- = 35.5 g / mol
Initially we must calculate the number of moles of each participant of the reaction, ie, sodium Na + and chlorine Cl-:
→
Number of moles of Na +
n = 1 mol
→
Number of mols of Cl-
n = 1 mol
Reaction:
Na + + Cl- -----------> NaCl
1 mole Na + ------------------ 1 mole NaCl
1 mole of Na + -------------- y
y = 1 mol of NaCl are produced
NaCl Molar Mass = 23 + 35.5 = 58.5 g / mol
1 mole of NaCl ---------------- 58.5 g
1 mol ----------------------- m
m = 58.5 grams of NaCl
