How does tobacco use effect the human body?
Everyone knows that tobacco use is harmful to the human body, but many people just don’t realize how harmful. Also many people know that tobacco affects people’s lungs but it also affects many other areas of the body in lots of harmful ways. But what are these harmful effects?
One puff of a smoke contain at least 4,000 harmful chemicals. When smokers blow these 4,000 harmful chemicals, their body wouldn’t function the same as non-smokers. Smoking cause heart disease and cancer, more than 400,000 people in United States die each year of smoking.
Tobacco has three main substances that are especially harmful to the human body. One of those substances is Nicotine. Nicotine is the drug that make tobacco addictive. Nicotine speeds the heartbeat, raises blood pressure, increases the craving for tobacco and cause dizziness and upset stomach.
Tar is another dangerous substance. Tar is a “thick, dark liquid that forms when tobacco burns. Tar coats the lining of the lungs and causes diseases.”
Carbon monoxide is also another harmful substance that is a colorless, odorless, poisonous gas produced by the burning of tobacco. Carbon monoxide prevents the body from getting all the oxygen it needs.
