Which system of inequalities is represented by the graph?

y ≤ 3x y > –2x – 1
y > 3x y ≤ –2x – 1
y < –3x y ≥ 2x – 1
y > –3x y ≤ 2x – 1

Answer:

y ≤ 3x and y > –2x – 1

Explanation:

We start graping using given options

Lets graph y=3x

Make a table

x y= 3x

-1 3(-1)= -3

0 0

1 3(1) = 3

for y = 3x . It is a solid blue line and the graph is shaded down

The graph is shaded down so we use <= symbol

So inequality becomes y <= 3x

Now we graph y= -2x-1

x y =-2x-1

-1 -2(-1)-1=1

0 -2(0) -1 = -1

1 -2(1) -1 = -3

the above points matches the dotted line graph

The graph has a dotted line and it is shaded up so we use > symbol

So inequality becomes y > -2x-1
