To find the slope of the line you have to find the total rise of the line / the total run of the line. The total rise (4), divided by the total run (-5) equals your slope, -4/5.

Therefore, the slope of the line is -4/5.

To find the slope when you are given the graph, you need to find the change of y over the change in x. First, choose two points on the line. I picked (0,2) and (5,-2). By counting boxes, determine the change in y, which is -4. Then determine the change in x which is 5. So your slope is -4/5
