Answer: [D]: " 12/14 " .
_____________________________________
Step-by-step explanation:
____________________________________________________
Looking at the answer choices given, we see that ALL of the fractions are "positive" fractions; so the question is,
→"Which fraction is the largest?"
_____________________________________________
We see that for choices "A) "10/14 ; and D) "12/14" ;
both have "14" as the denominator.
_____________________________________________________
Furthermore, we see that answer choice C): "5/7" can be convert to "14th" ;
____________________________________
→ 5/7 = (5*2) / (7*2) = 10/14 ; which is the same value as Answer choice, "A".
_______________________________________________
We know that "answer choice: D): "12/14" is larger than "10/14" ; so we can eliminate choices "A" and" C";
________________________________________________________
So, we are left with answer choices: B) 1/4 ; and D) 12/14 ;
________________________________________________

Answer choice B): 1/4 = ? / 28 ; 1/4 = (1*7) / (4*7) = 7/28 ;
____________________________________________________
Answer choice D): 12/14 = ? / 28; 12/14 = (12*2) / (14*2) = 24/28 ;
______________________________________________________
24/28 = (12/14) = (12÷2) / (14÷2) = 6/7 ;

→ is much larger than 7/28 (= 1/4);
_____________________________________________
So, answer choice: [D]: " 12/14 " ; is the answer.

Since everything is positive, "furthest from 0" means "biggest".

Since the denominators are different, transform everything in 28th :
a) 20/28
b) 7/28
c) 20/28
d) 24/28

The answer is d (biggest numerator).
