The most influential of the philosophers was Confucius. Confucius believed that the rulers of that time had tried to develop a society based on the example of great personal virtue. He believed that the key to peaceful society and a well-run government was order in the family. Confucianism, as the followers of Confucius became know, focused on human morality and good deeds. Confucianism is a system of moral, social, political, philosophical, and religious thought. Confucius established a code of behavior which influenced the culture and history of East Asia.
