You are trying to get enough rope to make a zip line from a tree to the school playground. You decide you need at least 10 feet of rope to make the zip line. Each friend has brought the following lengths of rope. Friend 1- 5/8 foot, Friend 2- 9/5 foot, Friend 3- 7/5 foot, Friend 4- 3whole and 2/7 feet, Friend 5- 4Whole and 5/9 feet, friend 6- 1 whole and 3/10 foot. Will you be able to build the zip line? ____________________________ How do you know?

Someone wants to borrow 4 foot of rope for another project. Do you have enough to share?

Find a common denominator to add all the fractions and add the wholes after. Or convert them into decimals and add them. 5/8 = 0.625, 9/5 1.8 etc. then take away 4 when you add all the fractions or decimals and see if you still have 10 feet.
