How did the process of electing a president change after the election of 1800

The process changed because the 12th amendment was added tot he constitution saying that you must vote for president and vice president.

• The 12th amendment was passed which made sure electors cast one of their votes for president and the other for VP
• Electors met at Electoral Colleges to cast their votes
