Synthetic means man-made.
Natural fibers include cotton, linen, silk and wool
Synthetic includes rayon (made from tree pulp), nylon, polyester, dacron, and others mostly made from petroleum

There are two sorts of man-made fibers: synthetic fibers regenerated fibers. Synthetic or man-made fibers generally come from synthetic materials such as petrochemicals.
