There's 1000 ml in 1 liter. 48.5 * 1000 = 48,500

Since 1 liter is equal to 1000 milliliters, to convert from milliliters, you move the decimals 3 times to the left. So 48.5 mL becomes 0.0485 liters.
You can also divide the mL amount by 1000 to get the answer 0.0485
