You want to isolate the x. So you can subtract both sides by 3/4 and get:
x<8-3/4

To do 8-3/4, you multiply the 8 by 4 to get a common denominator of 4.
32/4-3/4 which is 29/4 or 7 1/4

So your final answer is x<7 1/4 or any number less than 7 1/4
