I think E could be match in order to Solve the equation : 3(r+8)=42....finally,to solve it in order to find r that'll be 3r+24=42,sooo 3r=42-24,,,soooo 3r=18,,, so dividing both sides by 3,,,sooo r= 6.....

A. Not enough information given to solve (two equal signs not correct)
B. Will work, they distributed and then can easily be solved
C. Wont work. They distribute incorrectly and wrong answer would be given
D. Wont work. Not sure where the random 126 came intovthe eqation.
E. Will work. If they can easily do mathvin the head they know to multiply 3*8.
F. Will not work, the 3 disapears and wrong answer would be given
