Mary skipped a stone 44 feet across a lake. Gerald skipped a similar stone 6/11 as far as Mary skipped it. How far did Gerald skip his stone

The libary just bought 48 new books. If the libararians have already put 5/12 of the books on the shelves, how many of the books have been put on the shelves?

For the first one, you do 6/11 multiplied by 44 to find 6/11 of 44
44*6/11 (you can divide 44 by 11 first and multiply that by 6 to make it easier)
4*6
The final answer is 24 feet

For the second one, you do 5/12 multiplied by 48 to find 5/12 of 48
48*5/12 (I would again do 48 divided by 12 first)
4*5
The final answer is 20 books
