Ok , so you need to see that 100% must be 1 full day ( which is 24 hours )
Now saying school is 25% of 24 hours , therefore bringing you to the answer of 6 hours .
.25
x 24
_______
6

We know that there are 24 hours in one day. We are going to use this for the whole question. For each question we are going to do 24 hours multiplied by the decimal form of the percentage for that particular activity (we find the decimal value by moving the decimal twice to the left)
School: 24*.25 = 6 hours
Eating: 24*.1 = 2.4 hours
Sleep: 24*.4 = 9.6 hours
Homework: 24*.1 = 2.4 hours
Free time: 24*.15 = 3.6 hours
Hope this helps!
