What is the equation of a line that passes through the point (-2, 5) and is parallel to a line with a slope of 3?

You just need to plug in the information you have into the equation y=mx+b which represents the equation for a line

5=3*-2+b
5=-6+b
b=11

So we now know that the y-intercept is 11, so we can write the equation with the y-intercept and the slope

y=3x+11
