To solve |-5x-2|-7>0 so I have to add positive seven to both sides? Once I add do I split the equation in two?

Add 7 on both sides
|-5x-2|-7+7>0+7
|-5x-2|>7

|f(x)|>a
f(x)<-a or f(x)>a
-5x-2<-7 or -5x-2>7
solve:
-5x-2<-7 : x>1
solve:
-5x-2>7 : x<-9/5
