Hey there!

If we're solving for the value of "w" then follow these following steps
(2)/(5) (w) - 40 = ?
(2)/(5) ← From the looks we have to simplify it
(2)/(5) (w) - 40 = ?
(40 (5) )/(5)
(2(w) - 200 )/(5)Take out your like terms if you please! 2(w) - 200 which can also be equivalent to 2(w - 100)
(2(w -100))/(5) = ?
(2(w) - 100)/(5) (5) 2 = ? ; 2 = 0 w - 100 = 0; change the symbol to an addition symbol.. So your problem becomes w + 100 = 0

Therefore, your answer would have to be
w = 100

•By the way
(2)/(5) is changed to 0.4
