It is true that pre-questioning identifies a purpose for reading.

Pre-questioning may be defined as some questions which are provided before the students read the whole text, seeking to build the students’ interest and motivation, as well as their cognitive factors. Besides, pre-questioning is very useful to activate the schemata, in order to make students predict what they will deal with in the reading text.
