When we look at other peoples' behavior, we tend to overestimate the dispositional and underestimate the situational. The situation represented in the task is an example of fundamental attribution error. To explain particular state or situation of another person people take some internal characterisrics of an opponent as a basis, creating deep analysis which is quite critically. And when they have to estimate their situation they take external factors as a basis, paying less attention.
