ANSWER:

A. 8

Explanation:

We calculate the average rate of change by means of the two points located between x = -3 and x = -5.

The point are (-3, 1) and (-5, -15)

c=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

Replacing:

c=(-15-1)/(-5-(-3))=(-16)/(-5+3)=(-16)/(-2)=8

The average rate of change is 8
