In order to solve, you need to make them improper fractions. You do this by multiplying the whole number by the denominator, then adding the the numerator. So for 6 and 1/3 you would multiply 1*3, which is 18, then add 1 to 18. You keep the denominator the same. You have 19/3. Do the same with 1 and 5/6. You get 11/6. Now just multiply top by top, bottom by bottom. You get 209/18. Now divide bottom into top. 209 divided by 18 is 11 and you have 11 left over, so you now you have 11 and 11/18.
