So you find the common denominator which is 12.Then you convert both fractions to 12ths. 3/4=9/12 and 1/3 = 4/12.9/12 plus 4/12=13/12.
13/12 is an improper fraction so you convert into a mixed number which is 1 and 1/12.
1 1/12= answer
hope this helps!!!

First covert them to fractions with the same denominator so you can compare them (9/12 and 4/12), then subtract the numerators, and not the denominators (9/12-4/12), then whatever you get is the answer (5/12). If you can, simplify.
