Amendment 4 is the right of the people to be secure in their persons,houses,papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures,shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing a place, to be searched,and the persons or things to be seized

It protects citizens' privacy by ensuring that law enforcement can't ask to search or seize their belongings without a just cause.
Ex. A police officer may not search a person's home without a search warrant.
