20y^2 + 3y - 2
20* -2 = -40
factors of -40 that subtract to give you 3
8 * -5 = -40
8 + (-5) = 3
20y^2 -5y + 8y -2
5y( 4y - 1) +2(4y -1)
(4y - 1) ( 5y + 2)

Answer:

(5y+2)(4y-1)

Explanation:

Given:
20y^2+3y-2

Factor: Middle term splitting

We have to factor the quadratic equation.

\Rightarrow 20y^2+3y-2

\Rightarrow 20y^2+8y-5y-2

Make group and factor each group

\Rightarrow (20y^2+8y)-(5y-2)

\Rightarrow 4y(5y+2)-1(5y+2)

\Rightarrow (5y+2)(4y-1)

Hence, The factors are
(5y+2)(4y-1)

Please see the attachment for grid factor.

Factor completely and then place the factors in the proper location on the grid. 20y-example-1
