A death mask is and image, typically in wax or plaster cast made of a persons face following death, often by taking a cast or impression directly from the corpse.

a life mask, is just a type of art sculpture, and theyre usually made out of plaster. They where used in funerary and commemorative occasions. It was usually made and still is, to famous and powerful figures.
