1/2 inch > 3/8 inch
1/2 inch < 5/8 inch

Nick’s reasoning is not correct because the numerator of each cricket length may be greater than the numerator in 1/2, but the denominators are different. Therefore this reasoning only applies if the cricket length would’ve had same denominators as in 1/2.
