In Romantic times, many art forms were overlapping with each other, making the Romantic era like a messy portrait in a museum. Many art historians describe that Romanticism slips through your fingers when you try to define it because there isn't just one single style in the Romantic era. The Romantic era was filled with personal expressions because these artists focused on what was on their minds. The Romantic era was also not just centered in France and Italy. It spread to most of Europe and the U.S. Romanticism included poetry, fictional pieces, and mostly music, and there were even Romantic philosophers. It's not just visual arts such as dancing and acting. Since Romanticism was so widespread and different no matter where you look, it's hard to give it just one definition. Its definition would include multiple sentences and include many diverse examples of what art forms you would find in this era.
