How can coordinate proof be used to prove two lines are parallel?

You can use the coordinates to find the slope of each line. If you can show the two slopes are equal, then the lines are parallel.

Side note: If the lines are vertical, and never cross, then they will be parallel despite having an undefined slope. This is one of the exceptions to the rule.
