The plot of a story is defined as the framework, the structure, under which a story is written. It is almost like the blueprint that joins all the elements together to create a literary work. There are 5 parts that conform the plot structure of a story: the introduction, or exposition, which is where the reader is informed of the characters, setting and basic information necessary to understand what is going on. The rising action, which is defined as the way the writer builds up the information and develops the story to lead the reader to its crucial point, the climax, which is basically the center of the story, the point at which the action reaches its highest pitch, the falling action, which is when the action starts to find its solution, the adrenaline built up by the rising action and climax starts to dissipate and solutions start to be found. Also, all loose ends start to be tied up in preparation for the closure of the story. Finally, we have the resolution, which is basically the end of the story.
In this summary of Animal Farm, the organization then would be thus:
Exposition: The wise pig, Major, makes all the animals in the farm realize that they are being ill-treated and that they can put an end to their own misery by getting rid of their owner, Mr. Jones.
Rising Action: The animals take Major´s advice and get together to overthrow Mr. Jones, making him leave the farm. They then start their own rules and commandments. Initially, two pigs, Napoleon and Snowball, are in charge of Animal Farm. Napoleon in quite selfish because he wants to be the sole chief of the farm.
Climax: He plots against Snowball and turns the other animals against Snowball to get him thrown out of the farm. Napoleon takes over as the chief.
Falling action: After that, the pigs break the rules and commandments that they themselves, along with the other animals, prepared and planned. The pigs start to disobey and change every law that they were following earlier. They also start to behave and look like humans.
Resolution: Gradually, the government of Animal Farm loses authority, and Mr. Jones returns as the farm´s owner.
