When young Dawn with her rose-red fingers shone once more
the true son of Odysseus sprang from his bed and dressed,
over his shoulder he slung his well-homed sword,

Answer:

In the excerpt, personification is shown. Personification is a type of figurative language in which an author gives non-living objects human qualities. In the excerpt, Homer said that it is early in the morning and that the sky is red by using figurative language. He uses personification (the dawn is given human qualities) to convey this imagery. As a result, the reader/listener is more entertained.
