In a class, the ratio of girls to boys is 2:3. If there are 30 students in the class, what is the number of boys?

Please explain to me how you got the answer! My friend and I are reviewing our homework and she answered 15 boys while I answered 10. I just want to know who's right, could you explain how you got the answer?

There would be 12 girls and 18 boys. Since the ratio is 2:3, there are 5 parts total (2+3=5) With 30 students, each part equals 6 students (30/5=6) Therefore the two parts that are girls would be 6 x 2, or 12 students, leaving the remainder of students, 18, to be boys
