tan Ф = v sinα /( u + v cos α )

v is velocity of the air , u is velocity of pilot , α is angle between u and v and Ф is drift angle of the pilot

tan Ф = 18 sin ( 290 - 224) / 300 + 18 cos ( 290 - 224 )

= 18 sin 66 / ( 300 + 18 cos 66)

= 18 x .91 / (300 + 18 x .40)

= 16.38 / 305.4 = .0536

Ф = 3 .18 degree.
