Elimination Method
1) first, subtract both equations
6x + 5y = 61
-
-5x + 5y = -5
--------------------
11x = 66

2) divide by 11 on both sides
11x = 66
---- -----
11 11
x = 6

3) plug in 6 in either equation and solve for y
6(6) + 5y = 61

36 + 5y = 61
-36 -36

5y = 25

y = 5

answer (6,5)

(6x+5y=61)×5
(-5x+5y= -5)×6

30x+25y=305
-30x+30y=-30
55y=275
y=5

6x+5y=61
6x+5(5)=61
6x+25=61
6x=61-25
6x=36
x=36
÷6
x=6
