How is the structure of a story and the poem is similar? Example: A Narrative story and a Free Verse poem

I know that both structures entertains the reader however I'm really struggling for other reasons why it's similar.

The similarity between a story and a free verse poem is that they both don't need anything to rhyme in it. Both of them don't consist of meter or musical patterns.
