The perimeter of Jases basement is 28 yards. The length and width are at least 4 yards long and are whole numbers. If the basement is a square, what are the side lengths in yards

Since the perimeter of Jase's basement is 28 yards, and it is a square, 28 / 4 = 7.

Since the basement is a square, all four sides must be equal. We can write the equation for the perimeter as p=s+s+s+s or p=4s (s = side length).

We can plug in 28 for the perimeter to find s.
28 = 4s
s=7 yards
