Students who utilize the "read, underline and eliminate" strategy are more likely to get better test grades. Why is this is so?

Elimination enables students to limit the amount of possibilities they will have to calculate. This gives them more time to calculate other questions and answers.

My english teacher would always tell us "If you're not annotating, then you're not really reading." This is along the same lines. Marking text helps a student better understand what they're reading, and it makes it easier for them to go back and reference the text when needed.
